Pass the Balloon
Split the children into 2 equal teams, the player at the front holds a blown up balloon under their chin, no hands allowed, they then have to pass the balloon to the next in their team so it's under their chin, and so on down the line to the end, keeping the balloon under their chins as they pass it along. The first to the end is the winner, or last player to the front and repeat until the first player is at the start again.

Pin the Tail on the Donkey
Draw or paint a picture of the back of a donkey without the tail on a big piece of paper or card draw on a big "x" where the tail should be, also create a separate tail or several tails that will be pinned on or use "blue tac". Each guest is blindfolded in turn and lead to the donkey, spin them round 3 times, then they have to "pin the tail on the donkey".

The one who has put their tail closest to the "x" is the winner. Either make different tails for each guest or mark the spot with their name.

Gone Fishing
You will need a helper for this children's activity. Tie a string across the room and lay a sheet over it so no one can see what is on the other side. Use an old fishing pole, or tie a string around a stick or broom handle. Tie a clothes peg on the end of the fishing pole's string. Let each guest take a turn “casting” his or her line over the sheet. Have your helper stand on the other side and attach small gifts, favours, or treats to the clothespin. When they're done, the helper gives a slight tug on the line. When the kids "reel" in their lines, they'll be delighted to see what they've caught!

Statues
Played to music, all the players move round while the music is playing, when the music stops the players have to stand like statues, anyone who moves is out, start the music again and repeat as many times as you want.

Tied in Knots
Instruct the players to stand in a circle facing inward. To begin, everyone extends his or her right-hand into the ring and takes a hold of someone else's hand. Then, they do the same with their left hands. The object of the game is to see if they can untangle the "knot" by ducking under people, stepping over them or turning around. No matter what happens, they can't let go of hands!

Name That Animal
Pair up your party players in teams of 2-3 people and put a sticker or a picture of a animal on each child's back. Have the guests try to guess what the animal is by asking questions that can be answered with only "yes" or "no." For example, "Do I have legs?" "Can I fly?" and "Am I Green?"

Chinese whispers
Sit everyone in a circle. Whisper a long phrase to one person. They, in turn, whisper what they heard to the next person, and so on. The last person announces what they heard.

Pass the Parcel
Wrap a bar of chocolate (or some other gift), in a layer of paper. Now wrap it in another layer and repeat until you have about 10 layers. Finally wrap it in gift paper. Sit everyone in a circle and play a short snippet of music. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel removes ONE layer of wrapping. Repeat until the last layer of wrapping has been removed. The winner keeps the present.

Pass the Parcel with gifts
We prefer this one at PartyFun. As above but every layer contains a small gift with the special gift in the centre.

Pass the Parcel with forfeits
As above but every layer contains a forfeit (E.g. Sing a song, do a dance, have your belly button filled with water).

Musical Chairs
The old favourite. With one fewer chairs than people, a short snippet of music is played while the people move around the room. When the music stops everyone tries to sit on a vacant chair. (Only ONE person per chair) The person who doesn't find a chair is out. One chair is taken away and the game continues until only one person (The Winner) is left.

Mummies
Split the patry goers into teams of three and give each team a toilet roll. Two persons then wrap the third in the toilet roll so that they look like an Egyptian Mummy. The winning team is the one who in a set time (say 2 minutes) have the neatest and most covered Mummy.

Toy Walk
Have numbers on the ground for as many children (1-10). Walk on the numbers until the music stops. Have numbers on some small toys. If a child is standing on the number of the toy, they win the toy.

ADULTS

Dramatized Chinese Whispers
Several people are taken out of the room. One is returned and while the others are entertained by an assistant is told to mime one of the following (or one of your own ideas)

Changing the nappies of twins
Bathing an elephant
Before they start, a second person is brought into the room and told to watch. When the first demonstration has been completed, the first person is allowed to retake their place and the second is told that they have to do what they have just seen. Again, before they start, the third person is brought in to see the demonstration. The games ends when the last person has done the mime, and is asked what they have just done.

Who am I
A Good game to get people talking together at the start of the party As they arrive each person has a piece of paper pinned to their back. The paper contains the name of a famous person. By asking questions which can only be answered with "Yes" or "No" such as "Am I still alive?", "Am I fictional?", etc. the person has to guess their name. Successful guessers may have another go.

Pass the Key
You need two similar sized Very Large Keys (about 6 inches long), each tied to the end of a long length (60 feet or more) coarse string. The keys and string should have spent a few hours in the freezer immediately before being brought out.
Line up two teams of about eight to ten.
The key must be passed down trousers and dresses and skirts and the string will show the route followed. The winning team is the first to get everyone 'threaded.

Pass the Anything
Arrange teams of players in lines and give the first person on each line a object to be passed in a given fashion. Suggestions include:-

Some spaghetti. to be held in the mouth.
A credit card to be sucked to your lips.
A coin to be held between the first person's nose, and the next person's nose, while they walk around the back of the line and back to the front again. The first person goes to the back of the line, and the game continues, with a new 'next person'.

Winking Murder
All sit in a circle. Pass cards around telling people to keep them hidden; the person with the ace of spades is the murderer. When he is ready, the Murderer winks at people in the circle. Anyone who sees that they have been winked at lets out a blood-curdling scream and dies. If someone thinks they know who the murderer is, they ask everyone to put there hands out into the centre of the circle. Everyone closes their eyes and the person guessing touches the hand of the person they think is the murderer. If they are wrong, they are out of the game and the murderer is free to carry on…until they are found out or they murder everyone!

Pass the scissors
All players sit in a circle, and one is given a pair of scissors. In turn, the scissors are passed around the circle, from one player to the next. As a player passes the scissors to the next person they say either "CROSSED" or "UNCROSSED", and will be told if they are right or wrong. The object is to try and find out what the rule is. It is interesting at the start if the person knows the rule, and makes a great play of turning the scissors around and opening and closing them. The game continues until all have solved the mystery, or you take pity on the remainder.
The rule has nothing to do with the scissors. It is whether you have your legs crossed…

Matchsticks Game
One person sits cross-legged facing everyone with some matches (or sticks or similar). He then makes a simple design/pattern with a few matches and asks what number between 0 and 10 is represented. At the same time he places his hands on the floor showing a certain number of fingers.

The trick is that the matches are a decoy to the real trick of counting the revealed fingers & thumbs. As more people get it, the hand movements can be more and more exaggerated until everybody gets it (even to the point of saying that it can be 5 or 8 as fingers are added)

This has always been a successful one for all ages (especially mixed). Big thanks to Peter for submitting this game!
